My Dodo gifts

Hello there.
As promised, here is my post on my gifts from Lord Dodo.
I was looking on twitter and saw that Lord Dodo was asking for people to take a look at his website as they had made some changes, and then leave feed back on the Facebook page
Dodo-Pad
One lucky random person would win a prize.

I love the Dodo range so thought I would take a look and give them a hand.

I left feedback not even thinking about a prize, but was very pleasantly surprised when I received a tweet from him.

I was shocked. I never win prizes. When I looked on Facebook I saw that I was number 22. My lucky number, and my birthday. And Chad Reed wears 22. Lord Dodo informed me that as I joined the Facebook page that day, it was 22nd September. Amazing.

Anyway. My surprise package arrived today.

I was excited. I love getting parcels in the post. :)
Inside was a lovely note from Rebecca at Dodo-pad

Then there was a catalogue.

I started looking at this then remembered there was more inside.

Next I pulled out of the envelope this beauty.

The eyepad. A small notebook made to look like an iPhone. This will be kept in the front pocket of my handbag. A genius idea!!

The next thing I looked at was this.

This looked amazing and would fit into my A5 Finsbury. It is very decorative.

There is a special section in the back cover for VIP numbers :)

And a shot of the back cover.

This slimline A5 address book gets it idea from the full size Dodo address book but is more portable.

Then last, and best of all was this little beauty.

The Dodont forget and save the day stickers.
Now I love stationery, and I really love stickers that I can use in my Filofax!!
These are awesome and I was considering buying some.

How bright and fab are they????!!!!

There are 14 different designs-
Birthday, party, holiday, travel, meeting or appointment, back to school (or uni in my case), games, exams, schools out, doctor or dentist, special day, wedding, christening and Dodont forget.

You won't fail to miss an event with these!!

So there we go. I am VERY happy with my gift.

Thank you Lord Dodo for sending me it.

The new edition to the Filofax Family. Florance the A5 Finsbury

The German Filofax sale was a big disappointment to a lot of us, including me. I too was one of those who ordered the A5 Finchley in Rose and never received it.
But, I don't hold grudges for long and was soon looking for a replacement.
I wanted an A5 Filofax to take to uni to use for making notes in lectures and seminars. It would be a big bonus if it was pink too.

Imy was selling one on her blog so I had a look. A5 Finsbury
It was lovely, and it was pink.
I ummed and aahhed, and finally bought it.
She was called Florance, and was packaged very well for her journey to her new home.

There are a lot of photos from now of her arrival, and the careful unwrapping from my young able assistant, Esmé.

Esmé impatiently awaiting the arrival.

She is here!!!!!!!!

All packaging looked good.

I get to have a quick pose for a photo, then it is back in the hands of my assistant.

Carefully unwrapping her.

The unveiling.

Out she comes.

"Wow, it's beautiful" says Esmé.

Her face says it all.

Just checking through to make sure everything is ok.

Esmé loves the little leaflets that come with Filofaxes.

Flicking through the Dodo-pad.

Checking out the pens that Imy kindly sent.

Putting the first pen in it's loop.

And the second pen.

So there we have it. The arrival of Florence the A5 Finsbury. Another post will be coming soon, as to how I set her up.

The A5 Dodo-Pad Filofax Dilemma

So my dilemma is this. I bought a Filofax off the lovely Imy and inside it had the 2011 Dodo-Pad.

There are many ways this can be used as a diary. Imy did this Dodo-Pad Review

This is the example given in the Dodo-Pad.

As I intended to use the Filofax for my uni notes, having names across the top wasn't going to work for me.
So I tried it this way.

It seems that this way may work better for me.

So my question to you is this.

Have you got, or had the Dodo-Pad????

How are you, did you use it???

If I can get it to work for me then I will definitely get the 2012 diary.

I would be very interested to know

30 day blog challenge-Day 30- Who are you?

The simple answer to this question is, I don't know. I'm still trying to find out myself. I have a long battle with depression which might mean that I might never know who I am. When people comment about me I wonder if they are talking about the same person as me. I don't feel like the person they describe. Through blogging I hoped that I could feel free and write about what I wanted to. But, I still find that there is a barrier of mistrust with some people.
I would like to thank Imy. Her post today made me think about things. Regrets
I wrote a comment out about my biggest regret but couldn't go ahead and publish it. Thank you Imy. Love you loads.
Maybe one day I will.

Please feel free to comment on your thoughts as to what or who you feel I am.

30 day blog challenge-Day 29- In this past month, what have you learned

This is a tricky one for me. From my opinion I learn a lot from all everyday experiences. I have made quite a few friends through twitter lately that has brought out a new side in me that hasn't been free for a while. For this, I thank them.
I have learnt to love blogging. When on tumblr I felt like I was talking to myself. But on here I can see that people like to read what I blog. (couldn't tell you why, it's just me either ranting, letting off steam or blogging with excitement). But thank you for reading. It makes me happy to see good stats. If you would like to comment on why you read my blog, then please feel free to post below and give me an insight.
Many thanx

30 day blog challenge-Day 28- Apicture of you last year and now, how have you changed since then?

This photo was taken last May, just before i joined Slimming World. In the last year, I have lost 4 stone in weight.

This photo was taken this June at my Best friend's wedding.  I have loads more energy, and can chase after the kids now.

30 day blog challenge-Day 27- Why are you doing this 30 day challenge

Why am I doing this 30 day challenge? That is a very good question.
I started to do it on tumblr. But then I got bored with tumblr. I was annoyed with myself that I never got to finish the challenge as I really wanted to do the day where you put your iPod on shuffle and write down the first 10 songs that played.
I think it gives readers the chance to see little quirky things about the author. I know I like reading people's blogs when they do these challenges.

30 day blog challenge-Day 26- What you think about your friends

My friends are fab. I have a few close friends who I would die for and I love them to bits. I have my twitter friends, who some I would like to meet someday, and others that I can't wait to meet in November. You know who you are. :)
I have some friends who I would love to spend more time with but due to our various commitments never have any spare time to.
Friends are very precious, and the special ones are the ones that if you could choose your family, you would pick them.

30 day blog challenge-Day 25- What I would find in your bag

Now I'm not going to go into too much detail on this one as I am going to be doing a guest blog for Imy on Imy's world
This is going to be a part of the
Philofaxy All stars Team
So for now I will say that I carry around a small bag, but inside are some very random items.

30 day blog challenge-Day 23- Something you crave for a lot

This is to me, a very strange one. Something you crave for a lot?? Probably the same as everyone else to be honest.
To have more money
To be loved
To be wanted
To have more Filofaxes
To have no worries
To be stress free
To be slim
To be free
To have even more money?

To crave it, doesn't necessarily mean you are going to get it.
:)

30 day blog challenge-Day 22- What makes you different from everyone else

This is a hard one. I don't think you can really have one defining feature that makes you different to everyone else.
I like to think that just because I'm me, makes me different to everyone else. A collection of personality traits and likes, loves and hates makes me me.
If anyone would like to suggest anything, then feel free to comment.

30 day blog challenge-Day 21- A picture of something that makes you happy

A picture of something that makes you happy. Now some people will think this is very sad, but something that makes me happy is..........

Yes, my Filofax, Marco. I like making notes and making plans. I have all sorts of information I need in here and things I need to remember. If I have somewhere to write and doodle, then I'm happy.

My Filofax diary dilemma and how I solved it.

So my problem was this. I have always been a week to view girl, no matter what size Filofax or diary I was using. I kept reading blogs about how people swapped and changed, and I never understood why.
Then I got a bit crazy and started putting in a few month to page just to jot down the important things.

Woah. I thought. This is getting a bit radical. I've never done this before. But I
Liked it. The template was from Philofaxy

I kept reading more about how people used their diary, and had a very interesting chat with Steve who said that Filofax never intended you to have a full year in the organiser.
I had never thought of it like this before. I always bought a year, put it in and that was it until next year.
Steve went to on to say that the intention was to have monthly pages as your first port of call. Then your weekly, then your daily.
So I sat and pondered for a while. This was a big change. But it made so much sense. So I printed more monthly pages out and moved them from the back of the Malden to the very front. I then took out the week to view from March 2012 onwards.
I felt like I had made an achievement.
I now have September 2011 to August 2012 in month per page and July 2011 to end of February 2012 week to view.
Any dates that need to be written down after Feb can go straight on the month page then more info added to weekly nearer the time when that month goes into the Malden.
I could in theory take July 2011 out as it isn't needed and I might not necessarily need all the way up to Feb in weekly. The reason I have got so far in advance for weekly is that semester A for uni ends in Feb.
There is no point me going as far as getting day per page as I don't do enough to warrant having that much space.

So there we have it. I will keep you updated as to whether I like the transition, although I don't see why I won't.
:)

30 day blog challenge-Day 19- Nicknames you have; why do you have them

Mmm. This is a strange one to answer. I go under two different names on Facebook. One is Fairy-Rapunzel. This came about when I first had my hair extensions put in. We had gone for lunch on mothers day and my brother in law said I looked like some fairy mythical creature. Fairy Rapunzel it was.

The second name on Facebook is Mojo-Wingwong. This one goes back nearly 15 years ago when me and my best friend were entering random competitions and were trying to think up names to enter them as. Mojo Wingwong was one that stuck and to this day I still use it.

The next nickname is Icclewu. This was a pet name given toe by my boyfriend. Iccle meaning small as I'm 5ft 4 and he is 6ft 2 and wu meaning you. So little you. Daft I know. But it has stuck and is my user name for many things.

Lanni is another nickname I have. Self explanatory really withy surname being Lannigan.

The last nickname I can think of is George. This is another name from the boyfriend and I haven't got a clue where it comes from.

30 day blog challenge-Day 18- Plans/dreams/goals you have

I don't really like questions like this if I'm honest. I don't like to set myself up to fail by announcing all these big plans. I know there are probably a few people who would like to see me fall by the way side.
One of my goals that I will submit will be to finish university next year. To graduate must be such a fantastic feeling. You see it on American programmes but it hasn't really hit me until now that next year it could be me.
I hope my family are proud of me for sticking with it. I know my girls will be. :)

30 day blog challenge-Day 17- Someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why

I would love to swap places with my three year old daughter. Children at that age have such a fascination with the world. They are intrigued by everything and yearn to gain knowledge.
I would love to know her thought processes. Esmé is like me and is a deep thinker. What is thinking like as a three year old? How complex is it? I spend all day everyday thinking multiple things at one time. What does she think of?
The mind boggles, and I may never find out. but there is no harm in thinking about it!!

The German Filofax website

So, it was like any other Wednesday night, or so I thought. Just sat watching tv and having a cheeky peek at twitter to see what was happening. Then there it was.....

Check out this offer....
Filofax Germany

It was a link to the German Filofax website who were celebrating Filofax 90th birthday by Selling certain Filofaxes at €9 for 9 days only.
I was dubious as to whether this could be true, but come on, this came from Philofaxy so it must be true.
I went to have a look and was greeted by something like this.

Now this should be interesting, I thought. While all of the pictures were just as fantastic as the UK website, the writing was all in German.
I came off the website. "I don't need any" I said to myself, and carried on browsing through twitter. After chatting to various people, I went and had another look. Thoughts were going through my head along the lines of "what if the UK website don't do such an amazing offer as this".
So I browsed, thinking that there were two presents I could buy for Christmas. I saw the first present immediately. I can't go into too much detail about it in case the recipient reads this. I was unsure about the second present, but then saw a Rose A5 Finchley. That would be perfect for uni notes. It was then decided. I clicked on both to add to basket. "if they accept paypal, this should be a doddle" I thought.

It wasn't.
It was still in German. And I don't speak German. But instead of thinking logically that it would be the same as the UK website, I went into a blind panic thinking someone else might purchase my beloved finchley before I dawdled to the paypal section.
My problems.
1. I have no patience.
2. I didn't know what the Germans called the UK.
3. It wouldn't accept my postcode. (turned out that you just had to put 0 in the box and incorporate your postcode in with the address.
4. I get quite ratty under pressure.

I managed to fill in the form eventually with the help of people on twitter, and googling translations of random words. I have never been so happy to see paypal.
Relieved wasn't the word to describe my after thoughts of the purchase. I have never found Filofax shopping so stressful, and I never thought I would say it.

I even tweeted it!!!!

So I Was happy and went to bed happy with my purchases.

The next morning people were still tweeting about it. I was pleased I did my purchase the night before as I saw one tweet saying the stock had gone down a lot.
THAT WAS THE END OF MY GERMAN FILOFAX EXPERIENCE

Or was it???????????????

No. It wasn't. I still hadn't bought the second Christmas present that I really wanted to buy for. My daughter had been eyeing up my personal songbird, but I couldn't part with it, so as she is 12 years old I thought I must buy her, her first Filofax.
So I went back on............
The stock had diminished from the night before. But the Filofax I had been contemplating buying her was still there. So I added it to the basket. While I was there I added a Special edition zipped purse. With postage at €4.50 up to €25 order I had nothing to lose. If I don't like it I can eBay it.
Paying was less stressful this time as I had created a password the night before so all of my details were still stored. RESULT.
I was more than happy after that purchase.
I can't wait for the arrival of my spends.
Will blog once I receive them.

30 day blog challenge-Day 12- How you found out about this blog and why you made one

I wanted to do a blog about the things I like and love. It came about when I started talking to people on Philofaxy. They blogged about their Filofaxes and it was something I enjoyed reading, so I thought I would give it a go. I spoke to Imy on Facebook and she recommended a blog (this one) and off I went.
It turned out that I already had an account on here from when I was doing my access course. I had to blog about the human respiratory system. So I deleted that and started afresh.

30 day blog challenge- Day 11-Another picture of you and your friends

This photo was taken a month or so back when we were at a friend's 50th birthday party. It was quite a drunken night.  Not long after this photo was taken me and Becky, on the left, somehow ended up in a heap on the floor. Can't imagine how that happened. Lol
