Bye bye Filofax, hello Midori

Hello everyone.
Today I am finally going to share with you my Midori Traveler's Notebook.

I decided to move away from Filofax about seven weeks ago after completely losing faith in both them and SlamPR. So I made a makeshift diary, and then finally ordered the midori.

I have now been using the midori for 4 weeks, and love it!!

So from now, this post will be picture heavy :)




I added a little butterfly charm to the page marker.




We have the inside cover, with Midori's sticky pockets. And a craft file on the right with the spotty sticky pockets.

After the craft file I have the midori free diary. It's a week to view.




The free diary is very handy for starting at random times in the year as you write in your own dates and months.




At the back of the diary I have some sticky notes, then the green cover is the quadrille notebook with Muji sticky note on it.

I use washi tape on the edges of the pages to make it look pretty. This is my password page.




Then I had a page for the Filofax meeting yesterday with train times and child care arrangements noted down, and also who was attending the meeting.




This is a rather random page. My phone hasn't been keeping its battery very long. So I've started taking note when I charge it, and how long it lasts.




This is the information page at the back of the quadrille notebook.




Then I have my photoaday list that I'm doing on Instagram.




Next comes my Christmas section.




I have pages for presents to buy people, to do, Christmas card list etc.








At the back of the quadrille notebook I have another sticky pocket for cards then there is a zipped/card pocket.












Then at the back there is some more sticky pockets.








So there is a tour of my midori.

Will I return to Filofax????
I may well do. The meeting was very positive yesterday I saw one at the Filofax shop that I love, but didn't buy :(. So if I can get a new one then I will.

Filofax Competition time

Earlier this year I took part in a Holiday Essentials Challenge run by Filofax. The idea was to make a mood board for three Filofaxes given by Filofax themselves.
Today I am holding a competition to win one of these Filofaxes, the Personal Metropol in Kingfisher Blue.




There was an article on here Scotsman.com that told of the troubles that Letts Filofax were facing. Attached to the article was the following photograph of the CEO of Letts Filofax, Gordon Presly.

My mini move

Hey everyone.

With all of the drama with Filofax and their "issues" I began to have planner fail.
I won't entirely blame Filofax, but I began to wonder whether I should continue to support a company that functions the way it does.

So I began to experiment.
To cut a long story short (which may well be a blogpost in the future) I have decided to downsize, to, wait for it.............................Mini.

**Gasp**

Yes I am moving to my baby Filofax the Mini Lyndhurst. This is my baby for two reasons. One it's a mini of course, and two, its the first Filofax I bought.

So I thought I would give you a quick tour of the set up. It's not very detailed as I've only moved over completely this morning.

So here he is.








I have decided to stick with my little to do post it's dashboard at the front as they are very handy.








I'm using week to view at the moment. I may purchase a German cotton cream ruled for 2013 if I stick with it. I'm using little dot stickers for colour coding as I can't fit my multi pen in there. It should also help to find when people are doing things as well.




There isn't really much happening behind the tabs at the minute. Just the usual stuff I have in other Filofaxes.




I have two clear pockets at the back for holding random bits etc.




Then I have my little red riding hood zipped holder that has also featured in other Filofax set ups of mine. I use this for money.




I'm keeping notes in the back of this for the time being. This may change, and they may end up in the front pocket. In the back pocket I have some stickers for colour coding, and vouchers. I'm also using my Filofax pen.




So there we have a quick tour of my mini set up.

My Bode Boutique surprise win

A few weeks ago I was browsing on my friend Jessie's blog as she had designed some bracelets that I really liked, and she had a discount code for them.
Whilst looking on there I saw Jessie had a set to giveaway Here, so thought I would enter. I very rarely win things so took note anyway of the promotional code.
On Friday I was shocked to see on Twitter that I had actually won the bracelets. I was so happy.




I have now received them and thought I would share some pics with you.








It looked soo pretty when it arrived.




It came with a lovely little note from Jessie.

My thoughts on the new Temperley for Filofax range

Disclaimer. The following post are a description of my own thoughts and feelings of the products.

Where do I begin????

Filofax..............
I love Filofax, but am not liking the direction they seem to be heading at the moment.

Temperley..........
To be honest, before the Filofax collaboration I hadn't heard of Alice Temperley.

As much as Filofax will not admit it, the first Filofax/Temperley collaboration was not a success. If you speak to retailers, not
many of the Affair rrp £375 or the Guinea rrp £399 have been sold.

So it begs the question "why did Filofax go there again????"

But they did. And did it badly.

So where do we start?? Lets start with the lesser of two evils.

Introducing the Violet
Filofax say "A fitting addition to any fashion enthusiast's wardrobe". Mmm. Let me think about that............No. Obviously I'm not fashionable.





To be honest it doesn't even look like the photo on Filofax website. It feels like it is made from the thinnest leather ever, and isn't as shiny.

As Helena Bloomer of SlamPR says, Filofax users are note takers, it's just as well we don't need the diary space as its filled with multi-language.


I would like to be convinced with this Filofax though. So if Filofax or SlamPR would like to send me one to trial, then I would happily do so to be proved wrong.

Now onto the next one.

The IKat-

Breathes a heavy sigh at this point....……

Why did you do this Filofax????





I'm sorry but this is truly tragic.
This Filofax is awful and I would be ashamed to tell people if I owned one of these. The Ikat is selling at an rrp of £45. There are far better Filofaxes for sale for less, than the Ikat. This is the worst thing since the release of the Apex

I can't even bring myself to go through the description of the Ikat. It makes me angry. Words used include ideal, accessory, fashionista, unique, (well it is definitely that) perfect for the party season.

It is cheap looking and I was mortified to find the way to remove the diary to become a clutch bag was to pull it out. The diary slides into a back pocket with a piece of plastic!! No fancy fastenings to make it nice and pretty.

Filofax need to focus on what their real customers want. Something which they have become very good at ignoring. They need to stop tragic collaborations such as these and focus on reliable binders,decent inserts, and listening to their fans and followers.


So Filofax. It's over to you.

Philofaxy meet up. 22/9/12

Hello everyone.

Today I'm going to give you a round up of the Philofaxy meet up held in London on Saturday.

This was my 3rd meet up and I was very excited to be going.





My journey started by train, travelling down from Retford station to Kings Cross.

As it was a nice day and no one was meeting me at the station, I decided to walk to The Tate using ios6 maps on iPhone (risky I know, but worked).





I arrived there early and was pleased to see Steve there already.
Slowly other members arrived and very soon we were able to go inside for lunch.

As soon as we sat down the Filofaxes were out.





We were split into two tables which worked quite well actually. It gave us the opportunity to chat with those on our table during the meal, then all swap around afterwards.

After we had finished lunch, we headed over to City Organiser.









Andy had very kindly agreed to option the shop once again for us to browse/purchase to our hearts content.

Our first port of call once inside City Organiser was to check out the new Temperley range.





As you can see I was not impressed with the Ikat.





And Alison looks horrified by the Ikat.

I will be doing a separate post on the new Temperley range, so keep an eye out for it.

After we had finished at City Organiser, people split off to do their own thing. Some people went home/hotel, but me, Imy, Anita, Sarah, Preethi, Christa and Keji went shopping in Artbox, Muji and paperchase.

After we said our goodbyes to Christa and Keji, we made our way over to Vapiano where we met up with Steve and Thomas for a meal. It was a lovely place and the meal was fantastic. You can watch them cook your pasta meal.

At the end of the night we said goodnight to everyone and headed towards our hotel. I was sharing with Imy, and Steve was in the same hotel, so we had a drink in the hotel bar, then retired for the night.


This was a fantastic meet up, and my favourite to date. It was lovely and chilled out. I loved meeting new Philofaxy members and of course seeing the old ones again.

It was a very magical weekend.
